Where it began: Willy Dierick
The craft knowledge of Brevart Tree Nursery reaches back to the early nineteen seventies. That is when my father Willy and my uncle Guy Dierick started a tree nursery together under the name Gebroeders Dierick. In Wetteren (Ten-ede) they built up a respected family business step by step.
Wetteren has been known for generations as an important tree-growing region. In that setting Willy and Guy developed their craft and their expertise in growing and grafting avenue and ornamental trees. Within the nursery trade they became well-known names, valued for their experience, their command of the craft and the quality of their stock.
As a child I was already out in the nursery now and then. By watching, helping and asking questions, the love of the trade was passed on to me from an early age.
After finishing horticultural college I wanted to taste other trades and training too.
A fresh start on solid ground
After some wandering through arboriculture and other trades, and out of a love for nature, the idea of a nursery of my own took hold all the same.
Brevart bv was founded, named after the initials of my family.
The craft knowledge of my father Willy, still often to be found in the nursery, remains invaluable. I cannot imagine a better teacher.
With our eye on the future and our passion for trees, we feel equipped to take on the challenges of tomorrow.
